Rehabilitation
integrative medical board
We have implemented Integrative Medical Board at our facility, through a course of necessity and education. We accommodate a small number of horses at a time to enable us to provide close and personal attention to each of them. If your horse has been diagnosed with a muscular/skeletal injury, needs wound management or is recovering from surgery that requires lay up and after care, we can help. We offer a wide range of services to assist in recovery, from time of diagnosis until work under saddle is possible. We work very closely with Veterinarians in the area along with the University of Illinois and Purdue University. Alternative therapy is integrated along with Veterinary instruction (from the vet of your choice).

magna wave therapy
Certified in Magna Wave Equine Therapy
The Magna Wave is pulsed electro-magnetic field therapy and is designed to help with inflammation and blood flow. Magna Wave Therapy is great for our Athletes. The therapy serves to help regenerate damaged or diseased tissue, repair tendons and fractured bones. Magna Wave PEMF therapy also increases blood oxygen at the cellular level. Studies have shown that oxygen pressure can be increased by as much as 200%. Magna Wave PEMF is particularly effective in relieving deep muscle soreness because of its deep penetration. The therapy is noninvasive and no medication is required as a pretreatment for therapy. Great pre/post ride treatment. Helps with range of motion and improves movement.
Functional Movement Tape
SHC is certified in Functional Movement Techniques. Functional Movement Techniques (FMT) Equine is a 2-part kinesiology taping certification led by industry leading experts. FMT is based on the obvious yet largely overlooked concept of muscles acting as a chain. Say good-bye to agonizing over muscular origins and insertions and memorizing directions of tape. Say hello to a practical framework of ‘taping movement, not muscles’.
Saddle fitting
One of the most important things for a happy horse is a proper fitting saddle. We offer consultations when you are choosing a new saddle and assessment of how your current saddle fits. It is important to note that we focus on how the saddle fits the horse. The rider and trainer can best determine how the saddle fits the rider—you’ll know from the comfort level if your saddle is right for you. Nikki is a certified saddle fitter - for english, western, saddleseat and sidesaddle.
Saddle fitting can be used as a maintenance activity that helps to avoid problems, much like having your horse’s teeth floated every year. With regular saddle fitting appointments, you can keep problems from developing.
A poor saddle fit can do more than just cause pain and discomfort to your horse—it can also result in poor performance, bad behavior, and training problems. You and your horse will always work better as a team when the saddle fits correctly.
